Animal Chiropractic at Lawson Family Chiropractic

Dr. Lawson’s unique veterinary technician and chiropractor background make her exceptionally qualified to care for your animal companions. Having grown up in a veterinary clinic with her father, she has been adjusting animals since 1990, her first year at Life University.

Lawson Family Chiropractic welcomes pets of all sizes and species, from dogs and cats to more unusual patients like sugar gliders, rats, and even farm animals such as pigs and goats. Our gentle techniques are modified appropriately for each animal’s size and condition. For first-time patients, pre-approval is required before scheduling is confirmed. Please leave a phone number or call us at (706) 546-4488 to have your animal approved.

How Our Adjustments Can Help

Just like humans, animals benefit from proper spinal alignment and nervous system function. We regularly treat pets suffering from lameness, back pain, neck pain, hip dysplasia, and disc issues. Animals often receive adjustments to improve their gait and stance for conformation competitions including farm animals and domestic pets.

Some of our most remarkable success stories involve conditions that conventional veterinary medicine struggled to resolve. “I had a dog with mega-esophagus, dilated past her heart, that veterinarians couldn’t surgically repair,” Dr. Lawson recalls. “After atlas adjustments, her condition completely resolved.”

What to Expect During Your Pet’s Visit

Depending on your pet’s size and comfort level, Dr. Lawson may perform adjustments outside or in a quiet treatment room. This approach minimizes anxiety for animals that might associate indoor medical settings with veterinary visits.

Your pet’s visit includes a consultation, adjustment, and cold laser treatment, as indicated. While Dr. Lawson works in conjunction with veterinarians, you don’t necessarily need a formal referral to schedule an appointment. She prefers that animals be examined by a vet first, especially for complex conditions.

A Gentle Approach for Maximum Results

Dr. Lawson’s adjustment techniques are incredibly gentle, similar to those used for infants and small children. Many animals show immediate improvement following their first treatment.

“Animals typically respond much faster than humans,” explains Dr. Lawson. “One adjustment for an animal often equals about 50 for a human because they naturally stretch and move properly afterward!”

A Safe Alternative for Chronic Conditions

Animal rehab with adjustments offers a safe, sustainable alternative when traditional treatments fall short, especially for chronic pain and degenerative conditions like arthritis. By improving joint mobility and reducing inflammation, it enhances comfort and restores activity, helping animals lead fuller lives.

Chiropractic care is often the first step in animal rehab because it addresses structural and postural imbalances that can make other treatments less effective. If an animal’s spine is out of alignment, they might experience pain or be uncomfortable and have trouble moving, which makes doing rehab exercises more difficult. Physiotherapy is paired with chiropractic care in animal rehab. Gentle stretching, range-of-motion exercises, and strength-building activities work together with adjustments to fix muscle problems, loosen stiff joints, and improve movement.

By adjusting the spine and getting things back in place, chiropractic care helps other therapies, like resistance training or hydrotherapy, work much better. This way, the animal can go through rehab with less pain and fewer setbacks.
